“The
fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.”
“This
above all: to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day,
thou canst not then be false to any man.”
“Cowards
die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once.”
“In
time we hate that which we often fear.”
“We are
such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.”
“The
first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.”
“All
the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”
“I
wasted time, and now doth time waste me.”
“Some
are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon
them.”
We were both thinking about Shakespeare today, Carmen! I posted on facebook asking people what their favorite play of his is. Mine is Richard II: "For God's sake let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings." I was pleasantly surprised that two people so far picked Julius Caesar. I love all his plays but especially the history ones.
ReplyDeleteYes, Flossie, he was a great playwright, the greatest and his historical plays can't be equaled by any other author, I think.
