Life Flight
by Shauunna Wolf

Book Description

December 9, 2013
It's 1985. Malachi Blackfeather has spent twenty years in the Army. Two of those years as a Vietnam POW. Now that he's out, all he wants is some peace and quiet to figure out what to do with the rest of his life. Between the flashbacks, and an over interest in sex that is now being called sex addiction, finding his path isn't easy.
Kat is trying to escape an abusive marriage. Her soon to be ex is a master at manipulating the system, and her family thinks she should stay with him, "because no other man will want her." She's looking for escape in any form she can get it.

When they meet, sparks fly. Trapped by a blizzard, can two damaged people, who think there is no chance of love in the world for them, find each other, and survive an unforeseen circumstance that puts both of them in danger?

Mystery, romance, and danger, fill this novel, with a story that will draw you in and not let go.
My Review

Life Flight is a book I highly recommend. It is an intense story of love and hate and revenge, of the destructive power of people’s narrow-mindedness and prejudice and of the healing power of mutual understanding and love.
The story of two misfits, Kat and Malachi. Two people with their own inner hell to live and the same outer intolerable world to face.
Kat’s story is that of a stepdaughter, victim of physical and mental abuse and unkindness, as most step kids suffer around the world. This will not ‘tame’ her as intended, but  only bring to the surface her wild side.
Kat is now a young woman living in the world of men where the saying “what’s good for the gender is good for the goose, too”, never applies. She is known as a woman of not so high morals, a sexual addict, consequently, worthy of all the contempt of those around her. Even of women more wicked than her. “Sexual addict,” she said. She made a rude noise. “Hunter sounds better, addict, addicted to what? I’m not addicted to men, or women, I want to feel something, want to fill the dead zone inside of me with something--so I’m always hunting for the person or thing that will fill it.”
Malachi’s story is that of a former Vietnam soldier who carries with him all the tormenting memories of war, flashbacks of those times haunting him. Everything my life had been for the last twenty-five years rang like a bad dream, a nightmare from the pits of Vietnam.
For both Kat and Malachi ‘Fear was easy; joy came hard’.
Kat and Malachi meet and what is, at first, just a one-night-stand encounter evolves to a deeper mutual feeling. ..with Kat I knew I would keep feeling what I was. Alive. Warm. As if I had a soul inside me, not just a demon who preyed on others for my next fix of emotions. The chemistry between them is almost palpable.
It’s a story with unexpected twists and turns that will keep you glued to the pages, told in an interesting way: Malachi first POV and Kat third POV. The sensual scenes perfectly matched the characters and their feelings. The book is recommended to readers of +18.
My rating Five Stars
