AUTUMN AGAIN

Autumn has turned up

  on my doorstep.

          Again !

Drenched, tempestuous, frowned.

  Rusted leaves are coiled

in her dripping hair,

  a gray, foggy cape

wrapping her to the ground.

  She pierces my soul with

cold, distant eyes.

  Her breath smells of

rottenness and rain.

  Dejected I bend my head,

       then I sigh.

My hopes she forgot

where I lived were in vain.

    1. It's a season full of contrasts. The wealth of fruit and vegetables on the one hand, and the rainy, cold weather that sends you into spleen. Thank you for leaving a comment!

    1. What a pity people generally don't read poems anymore. And the theory is that fiction writers should start with writing poems first. Thank you for leaving a comment, Mary!

    1. Thank you for sharing, Susan! I would have posted the Romanian version, too, but as my visitors are mostly from abroad I selected only the initial, English version.

  8. How beautiful, Carmen. You are so talented. I love poetry, especially Yeats and Keats. I once wrote one for October that started "October with her black satin eyes came flashing into autumn." I don't know how your weather is, but we've had a couple of cool mornings here and it's wonderful. http://flossiebentonrogers.com

    1. Thank you for your lovely words, Flossie! Your October line sounds very suggestive. Have you published poems too?
Here the weather is colder than usual at the moment.

    2. I have published poems in the past with FL poets groups, not in years though.

    3. It means that we both followed the right theoretical path, from poetry to prose. They say it helps much writing first poetry.

  9. What a beautiful poem, Carmen. Love the pictures, too. I love autumn best of all the seasons, even though it can be a little bittersweet. Believe it or not, I envy you the rain. We're in a severe drought here in California. Our autumn colors are brown and blue: brown, arid hills and bright blue sky.
